πŸ‘• What to Wear (Uniform)

All students must wear their MJ's Dance Studio uniform. The great news is they can choose any mix of their current pieces! Things to keep in mind:

  • Uniform combos can include: shorts, crops, leotards, unitards, singlets, t-shirts, flares, tights – whatever your dancer feels confident in.
  • Tracksuits are fine, but they may limit movement for some routines.
  • Please no hoodies or oversized jumpers on stage. Zip-up jackets are allowed on stage (except for Acro – they'll need to be removed for safety).
  • Ballet students must wear either a leotard or unitard, along with stockings or ballet socks.
  • Students to wear white socks (where applicable).
  • No Jerseys please.

πŸ‘Ÿ Shoes – What They Need

Please double-check your dancer has the correct shoes for each genre:

  • Tap
    • Levels 1–4: Tan Tap shoes
    • Levels 5–6: Tan or black Tap shoes
    • Intermediates & Seniors: Black Tap shoes
  • Jazz – Tan Jazz shoes
  • Ballet – Ballet shoes with elastic only (no laces)
  • Lyrical – Bare feet; half shoes are optional for older students
  • Hip Hop – White sneakers with clean soles
  • Acro – Bare feet

πŸšͺ Arrival & Pickup Details

When you arrive at the club, all adults will need to sign in – please allow a few extra minutes for this process.

Once signed in, head toward the new bar and seating area. Just before you reach the bar, you'll see a door on the right – go through there and head downstairs to the indoor bowling green. If you joined us last year, it's the same spot we used for our presentation.

The area will be curtained off to separate us from club operations, and each group will have a colour-coded section. Your child will receive a coloured wristband matching their group and a tag in the same colour with your child's name for you. This tag must be shown when collecting your child, so whoever picks them up must bring it along (it doesn't have to be the same person who dropped them off).

We'll be staggering arrival times to help keep the space calm and organised. Even if siblings are in different groups, we kindly ask that you follow the timing as closely as possible – it makes a big difference for the dancers and the flow of the day. Thank you for understanding!

πŸŽ’ What to Pack

Just one small bag per dancer, please! Inside it:

  • Water only (unless required for medical needs)
  • Their dance shoes
  • A small, nut-free snack

No need to bring toys or entertainment – we've got plenty planned to keep them happy between dances.

πŸ’‡ Grooming

For this show, we ask that all students wear their hair in a low bun with a middle part – this keeps things consistent and tidy on stage.

Makeup is not required. If our older students would like to wear a little minimal natural makeup, that's totally fine – but no stage makeup is necessary.

🏷️ Label Everything!

Please label all your child's belongings – bags, bottles, and shoes especially. It helps avoid mix-ups and ensures everything makes its way home.
